    What we believe

    • the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
    • all men are guilty before God, need to repent, confess and forsake their sin, and believe and obey God’s Word. (Acts 2:38, Romans 3:23, Romans 10:9)
    • in believer’s baptism. (Mark 16:16)
    • in nonconformity to the world. (1 John 2:15)
    • in nonresistance in all phases of life. (Matthew 5:43-46)
    • women are to wear a head covering. (1 Corinthians 11:5)
    • men are to be the spiritual leaders of the home and church. (1 Corinthians 11:3)
    • the use of radio and television is detrimental to true Christian living and must be avoided. (Psalm 101:3, 1 Thessalonians 5:22)
    • God’s design for marriage is one man and one woman for life. Divorce and remarriage and other deviations from God’s design are wrong. (Mark 10:6-12)
    • it is possible to experience the new birth and later fall away and be lost. (2 Peter 2:20-22)
    • it is necessary for Christians to seek to become a part of a local body of believers. (Hebrews 10:25, Hebrews 13:17)
    • the church has the authority to make practical applications to the principles of God’s Word and needs to do so if it will maintain those principles in the lives of its members. (Matthew 16:19, Matthew 18:17, Hebrews 13:17)

This statement of belief is very brief and concise. Some points in this statement of belief may be unfamiliar to some of our readers. We encourage you to appreciate the devotionals and Bible readings even if you are not in harmony with our convictions of Biblical truth.

The devotionals in this booklet are written by volunteers. If you agree with the above statement of belief and are a member in good standing with a church that supports such a statement of belief with a written standard of practice, we invite you to write for Beside The Still Waters. Since this booklet is often used by men or in family settings and since the Bible teaches that men should lead in worship (1 Timothy 2:12), we wish to have all the articles written by men.

Beside The Still Waters is published bimonthly by Still Waters Ministries, a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization, under the direction of Cedar Springs Amish Mennonite Church.
